a far out place for human people

MESA VERDE MOTEL

The Mesa Verde Motel is located in Mancos, Colorado, a small historic mountain town where local dwellers and travelers of all ages come to see the historic dwellings of Mesa Verde National Park. This National Park was once the home of Ancestral Puebloans whose community relied on astronomy, the land, and their architecture for the 700 years they inhabited the area.

Conceptually, we pulled from astronomy (Mesa Verde is a certified international Dark Sky Park), the Ancient Puebloan's history, the bones of the building, and a modern southwest aesthetic to create a one-of-a kind roadside motel experience.
